Yay Nastia and Shawn won some golds!! Hurray for them!! I am sooo proud. I am bummed for Nastia who tied for Gold with He (from China) but the gold was awarded to He instead (confusing name I must admit).
Mini update on my being: I'm teaching kids for 1 day and 1 week, and that's it for this summer. I am honestly tired...of the class? or what I'm teaching? or the summer, I don't know, but something is bothering me. Maybe I need to take a trip somewhere?
I'm going to Bucuresti Thursday to get some shots!, that should be exciting, but I'm talking about a different kind of trip.
My birthday is coming up in less than a month...maybe I can take a trip then. Where would I go? with who?
Hum, okay...I'm taking my bike to the local magazine (small shop) for a few items before they close, so gotta go for now.

I got my package
I got my first package!! yesterday!
Okay, so Mom sent me a package a while back ago (maybe 8 days before it got here) and it had my name and Sarita's name on it.
Since it had Sarita's name on it (Sarita being the mayor's wife, my counterpart's wife, and my landlord) we had to go together to Galati to pick up the package at the train station post office.
We had a worker drive us during work to the city to get it, and at first I felt bad about that whole trip, but then less bad because we had to do some shopping for the office anyway, so it wasn't all about me.
Package contained things I was surprised made it through to Romania. My mom sent me seeds for planting, curry powder, dried Chinese herbs, which all I appreciated, but ...! I thought these things weren't allowed over!
So for the future: put my name only so I don't need her to come along to get my packages.
That's the story.

I changed this because an organization offered to pick up packages for me. Once I get notice that I've received a package, I have 2 days to pick it up or it's sent back to where it came from.
Bless that organization's soul!

Yeh Cynthia (like their ancient Chinese neighbors, Romanians say and write with their last name and then first name).
comuna Mastacani (Cynthia lives in a comuna which is actually a group of 4 villages, sort of like a "county," like Almaden county, or Contra Costa county, etc...)
sat Chiraftei (is the actual village Cynthia lives in. Sat= village)
judet Galati (that is the nearest large city to my location)
Romania (that's the country for which Cynthia is serving in for Peace Corps, it is located in the eastern region of Europe, and is now part of the EU)
What do I need or want?
At the moment: Mommy! I want the Avon, skin-so-soft mosquito repellent!!
Besides that...letters, postcards, whatever.
As great as my site is here, I do plan on traveling to other European countries too. We will see, maybe I'll stay at my site more for my service here, and travel the world after Peace Corps.

Plain old day and Important Romanian Info!
Calvie and I are having a chill time. I pick him up from school, we do chores (like moving pieces of garden shed out of the minivan), and then he plays his maple story while I do stuff on my computer (peace corps and email stuff), then we both make dinner and eat it over a movie, then he and I clean up and get settled down for bed. If he has lots of hw then I take over a bit more chores but he's really honest about helping out (cause he loves his big sister!). I also talked to Amelia on and off throughout the day.

Tickets:
I just checked the price for round trip tickets from San Jose (SJC) to Romania (BUH or OTP) and...depending on what season you go, I found tickets for about ~$600 to $2000. Peak prices were in the summer time and lowest prices were in winter and spring. Traveling from country to country in Europe is cheap! So make sure to visit other places too!
Vacations:
I have 2 days of vacation a month, so 24 days a year to go travel. I can travel home to the US or travel to another place, like in Europe.
I can easily take 1 week of vacation off at a time, but I need to ask permission to take extended vacations.
I cannot go on vacation before August 18th, 2008 (6 months after I start PC) and after February 6th, 2010 (3 months before I leave PC). The reasons are related to training and settling in.
