What happened: Lightning struck - > computer shut down but not the rest of the lights in my apartment.

What's wrong: After I restarted computer, mouse no longer would scroll well, it freezes somestimes, the sound won't stay louder, the volume bar drops to mute every time. When I try to increase volume it clicks the mute button on and off. Internet won't work on it anymore.

What I did after: Restarted computer, ran every program check, tried to reinstall mouse and sound devices, internet guy check out computer. Took the whole thing apart and tried to clean my laptop's insides.

What I further did: I rebooted my whole system with CD's I brought from the US. The mouse scrolls much better now, but it selects random things and hesitates sometimes still. The sound devices are no where to be seen anymore. I have SoundMax as the sound device, and before I rebooted, the sound worked when I kept clicking the volume bar.

Why I did not buy a surge protector: A few other volunteers told me that the pack on my wire was a surge protector as well as an converter, and that getting another surge protector would hurt my computer. I actually experienced maybe 6 power surges before the lightning, but yeah, the last was lightning.

SO IDEAS??!?!

I feel disconnected without internet and I haven't called anyone for 3 weeks now, so...I don't know what to do. I have computers at work still...but I can't call people, and I also realize I am in PC, and I may have to just not rely on technology so much.
