If you want to know what the above means:

Yeh Cynthia (like their ancient Chinese neighbors, Romanians say and write with their last name and then first name).
comuna Mastacani (Cynthia lives in a comuna which is actually a group of 4 villages, sort of like a "county," like Almaden county, or Contra Costa county, etc...)
sat Chiraftei (is the actual village Cynthia lives in. Sat= village)
judet Galati (that is the nearest large city to my location)
Romania (that's the country for which Cynthia is serving in for Peace Corps, it is located in the eastern region of Europe, and is now part of the EU)

What do I need or want?
At the moment: Mommy! I want the Avon, skin-so-soft mosquito repellent!!

Besides that...letters, postcards, whatever.

As great as my site is here, I do plan on traveling to other European countries too. We will see, maybe I'll stay at my site more for my service here, and travel the world after Peace Corps.

Role playing

We have been doing a lot of role playing this week to help utilize the zillion!!! Okay, maybe a hundred (o sota [oooh-suu-tah]) words we've been bombarded this week.

Don't get me wrong, I love it! I'm trying to learn more words outside of class, like: nu-i nimic (which means "never mind"). I use this after I give several attempts to communicate and I still get blank stares.

Anyway, this week we've been to the:

Post office (La Posta)

Samuel is helping Anne buy stamps to mail a package to the US, este scump! (is expensive!)

There's Lee and Janet waiting for their turn. There's Michael and Emily, way in the back.

The bus (La Autobuz)

Here we have Elena holding up the different sign for different bus stops.

Samuel is the bus driver, and a crazy one at that. Octavian, one of the most experienced teacher at this school, really knows how to get into these roles. He's a tired cranky elder passenger here.

Fruit and Veggies (Frute si Legume)

Here is my class making the fruit (frute) salad to contribute to our salad day. Octavian, Julie and myself worked on the salad slicing. Thanks to my nifty leatherman =) I have a silly face, but what can I say, we're having fun.

Here is the whole sector of CED (our class of 37 was divided into 3 sectors: ID, CED, and ENVE). According to my informants, our sector had the best salads *muahahah*

Here's us sitting in a square waiting for everyone to be seated.

Heehee (she'll be mad at me for this), but here is one of our profesoaras helping herself to the delicious salads while the rest of us waited. Can't blame her, because they were really good. We had a tuna salad, a legume salade, and a frute salade.
